Veteran Services
As we embark upon America's 250 years in 2026, Nazeem wanted to place emphasis on all of the amazing Veterans who served our country including her own Grandfather, Albert Pratt Jr., who was also an exemplary leader and example to many American men. Our veterans deserve our full support when they return home secondary to the lasting impact of combat on our mental, physical, spiritual and psychological health. Our goal at Happy Place Speech is to provide free services to our veterans who are otherwise unable to find a local Speech Pathologist through their insurance or the Veterans Administration secondary to the shortage of SLPS. Veterans will be prioritized to ensure their overall health is being supported after combat. Our services address speech and language difficulties post combat (i.e. stuttering, cluttering, word finding difficulty), Traumatic Brain Injury, Aphasia, Dysphagia, Dysarthria, Paraphasia, Executive Functioning and pragmatic/social skills readjustment post combat and more. Please check out our free handouts below and sign up for a free 15 minute consultation for more information!
Benefits of Cycling for Veterans
For many veterans, cycling is a powerful tool for recovery, offering a "trifecta" of physical stimulation, psychological regulation, and social solidarity and camaraderie. It provides a low-impact way to manage injuries while recreating the camaraderie found in military service. Veterans sometimes return home with Traumatic brain Injury (TBI), Post Traumatic Stress Syndrome (PTSD), Cognitive Language Disorder (CLD), sudden onset of stuttering secondary to head injuries, hearing loss, and/or anxiety and depression that impacts our overall life.
Below you will find information about the benefits of cycling, creating a cycling community and SLP services.
